What is face recognition attendance and how does it work?

It records time in and time out by recognizing a face instead of a fingerprint or ID card. With Heimdal, a phone or tablet at the entrance captures the face, our servers match it against the people you enrolled, and the scan shows up in your dashboard within a second or two.

Do we need special hardware?

Accepted Answer

No. Any phone, tablet, or computer with a camera and a current browser works: iOS 16.5 or later, or Android 6 or later with an up-to-date Chrome. Most places mount a spare tablet by the door. There is no app to install.

How do people enroll without an app?

Accepted Answer

You share an invite link. Each person opens it in their phone's browser, reads and accepts the consent notice, and has their face captured on the page. Schools can also paste a class list and have a teacher capture students in class.

How much does face recognition attendance cost in the Philippines?

Offices and teams pay ₱39 per person per month, prepaid, with a minimum of 5 people and discounts for 3, 6, or 12 months. Schools pay one yearly amount by enrollment band instead, listed on the schools page. Jails and detention facilities are quoted per facility.

How accurate is the face recognition?

Accepted Answer

The face model scores 99.83% on the LFW benchmark, according to its published model card. A benchmark is not a doorway: lighting and camera angle matter. When a scan cannot be matched, it is saved for an admin to assign to the right person or dismiss.

Is face recognition attendance allowed under the Data Privacy Act?

Face data is sensitive personal information, so it needs consent and care. Heimdal saves each consent with the exact wording shown, erases face data on removal or refusal, deletes leftover scan photos on a schedule, and comes with a data processing agreement. Your organization stays responsible for its own compliance.

What happens to face data when someone leaves?

Removing a person permanently erases their face template, their enrollment photo, and their attendance history. Download the months you need before you remove anyone, because the records cannot be brought back.

Does it work when the internet drops?

Accepted Answer

Yes, for up to a day. The kiosk keeps scanning, stores each scan on the device, and sends them when the connection returns. It shows Log Saved instead of a name while offline. Scans older than 24 hours are dropped.
